Motor Trade Technologies was formed as a holding company in 2006

With companies like Stafford Computer Technology and MTS, our software solutions have been widely utilised by the Franchise and Independent Automotive, Rescue & Recovery, Public Transport, Plant Hire and Construction sectors.

We have a deep knowledge of GPS tracking and mapping systems that have been acquired from Mobile Tracking Systems which formed part of the group in the early 2000s. This technology is used extensively in our Vehicle Recovery products.

We write, test and support all of our products in-house, at our offices in Weston-super-Mare, and our field staff cover the entire UK.

Our history lies deep in the Automotive Industry

Formed in the late 1980s, Stafford Computer Technology set about developing a range of software suitable for the independent garage workshop.

It was one of the pioneers in producing IT systems for the motor industry, and AutoInTouch became the benchmark for improving workshop efficiency. Soon after the launch of AutoInTouch, new products followed. These included car sales software, our Selling Point stock control & point-of-sale systems and our ALLinONE accounts package. Stafford Computer Technology was the first company in the UK to get DVSA approval for its ‘Test Master’ software, linked to a hand-held device. The new product went on to outsell all of its competitors.

Fast forward to 1992 and Autologic.

We began developing technical data for the service repair sector of the automotive market. In 2000 we were contracted to supply Vehicle Specific Information (VSI), to Siemens Business Systems/ATOS, for the UK’s MOT Computerisation Scheme. The VSI data covered all motorbikes, quads, trikes, passenger cars and LCVs going back to 1980, whether they were imported or manufactured here in the UK. Our team of researchers continuously updated all vehicle data. The data provided essential information for the vehicle tester, including advice on how to test advanced systems on vehicles. With almost two million separate items of information, the VSI established itself as a vital tool for road safety and vehicle inspections.

Up until the change to the MOT system in 2015, VSI was used by over 22,000 test stations nationwide and received in excess of 30 million ‘hits’ per annum.

Today as MTT, we draw on the combined experience of our companies. We innovate as a team, and our software constantly evolves to meet and exceed the expectation of our customers.
